The term gargoyle is most often applied to medieval work; architects often used multiple gargoyles on buildings to divide the flow of rainwater off the roof to minimize the potential damage from a rainstorm. Gargoyles were used as a representation of evil and that their presence kept evil outside of the church’s walls. |

Answer to Quiz ==> | Since literacy was uncommon, images were the best way to constantly convey ideas so Gargoyles were used to scare people into coming to church. |
